The newest porcelain collection to emerge from AKDO is called the Unique Series. The Unique Series from Rex Ceramics is currently in stock and in the AKDO warehouse. The elegant and refined design that is incorporated in this series is made up of a colored body porcelain that is sure to turn heads once installed in any application. The seductive tiled surface recalls the essential nature of a fired brick while creating a strong bond between modern and traditional elements. The eight colors that are available through AKDO Tile are meant to exemplify a scale of colors that includes both cold and warm tones, which makes it the perfect tile collection for any environment you may have.
One of the great benefits from the Unique Collection from AKDO Tile is that it is available in a multitude of sizes such as 8”x24”, 24”x24” & 16”x16”. This allows for the wonderful ability to create patterns such as the checkerboards pictured below and the multi-sized and multicolored patterns as well. After spending the last week at the annual Coverings floor show in Orlando Florida we came back with an array of new trends in flooring. Below are some pictures from some of our fabulous vendors such as Oceanside Glass Tile, Artistic Tile, Mixed up Mosaics, Pratt & Larson and many more. Covering’s is a great show to meet some of the industry leaders who provide our company with product knowledge on a day to day basis. It's always great to be able to spend some time outside of our showroom and walk around the show grounds to visit some of our great vendors. Oceanside Glass Tile is coming out with an amazing new collection of Cleaners and Sealers for their glass tile called Oceancare Products. We are very excited to be able to carry Oceancare products in our award winning Oceanside showroom. Artistic Tile is coming out with a wide array of new products to join their hand-carved collection. The hand-carved tiles from Artistic Tile are some of the most unique and stunning tiles out in the market at this time. The Ambra Tile is one of our best-selling tiles in our showroom and we are very excited to display these new tiles in our store. Villeroy & Boch and Ambiente Tile are coming out with a fabulous new collection to add to their Bernina Collection and we are pleased to be one of their premier distributors on the West Coast. Some of the pictures below include part of the annual designer showcase at Covering’s and this year was one showcase not to miss. The three separate rooms that were constructed during the showcase were meant to exemplify an exterior application, hotel bedroom and a bathroom. My favorite installation has got to be the exterior application with the gorgeous ledger stone panels on the wall. I can very easily picture myself laying on the make-shift massage table that was put in the display. This is a prime example that no bathroom is too small to turn into a marvelous creation. Our fabulous in-house designer Bronwyn Swackhamer put together this stunning bathroom with this customer and it turned out absolutely amazing. The customer used a variety of materials in this bathroom to give it a modern appeal with a touch of pizzazz as well. The White Zeus Slab from Cosentino was used on the vanity to give this bathroom an ultra-clean and sleek look. The White Zeus from Cosentino is the whitest quartz slab currently on the market. This is why the White Zeus is one of our most popular quartz colors for customers looking for a clean contemporary look for their kitchen or bathroom. The customer decided to go for the Villeroy & Boch Bernina Series in the Brown Color on the floor in the 12”x24”. The Bernina Brown and Bernina Anthracite are two of the most popular selling colors in the Bernina Series. The Bernina Series is a very contemporary tile collection that adds a great touch of color into this bathroom with the complimenting brown to go with the white glossy porcelain tile on the walls. To maintain the clean contemporary look in this bathroom we decided to use the 12”x36” White Nero Glossy Porcelain tile from Villeroy & Boch. The sleek look of the 12”x36” Glossy White gives this bathroom the clean look the customer was going for along with a neutral color to coincide with the Bernina Brown floor tile and the beautiful mosaic glass on the walls. The Glass tile that was specified for this bathroom was the Jazz Glass Collection from Artistic Tile in the Chicago Louis Linear Mosaic color. The beautiful shades of dark tortoise shell with glacial white are arranged in striped bands that are mesh mounted on interlocking sheets. The Silver backed bands on the Chicago Louis Linear Mosaic gives this installation a beautiful color combination that catches the eye of anyone who walks into this marvelous bathroom. To accentuate the Chicago Louis Linear Mosaic the customer decided to install under-mount lighting underneath the tub to bring out the true colors of this stunning mosaic. This is an absolutely stunning installation from one of our fabulous vendors, Encore Ceramics. Encore Ceramics is a handmade ceramics company based out of Grants Pass, Oregon who produces some of the country’s finest ceramic tiles and mosaics. One of the great advantages of Encore Ceramics is that their tiles and mosaics are perfectly suitable for pool installations. This striking installation in a guest house was put together by the fabulous designer Bic Mohandie (Beautiful Designs 626-234-8388) and it turned out magnificent. The customer decided to use the Emperador Light Marble from Spain on all the counter-tops including the island in the middle of the kitchen. The Emperador Light Marble gives this kitchen a clean and subtle color on the counters and island without taking away from the mosaics. My favorite part of this kitchen has got to be the stunningly gorgeous six-piece Grace Medallion in the Mist color that the customer put above the stove-top. The Grace Medallion has been one of our best sellers from Encore Ceramics for their classic look is available in both a six-piece and eight-piece pattern in any of their beautiful crackle colors. The Wave Mosaic in the Rain color was put throughout the kitchen backsplash surrounded by the Mini-Brick Mosaic in the Balboa Blend. I love how classic and timeless this kitchen looks with all of these wonderful mosaics. The customer decided to use the Magic Liner in the Bianca Color to separate the Wave Mosaic and the Balboa Blend Mini-Brick Mosaic. One of the great features of Encore Ceramics is that their Wave Mosaic is available in half pieces in both horizontal and vertical halves. This greatly helped our customer on this back-splash for the pre-formed halves were used throughout the length of the backsplash saving any headache caused by cutting these glass tiles.
